Carl and Simon had been considering a home move but couldn’t find anything they liked better than the apartment they already lived in. They decided to stop looking and instead focus on upgrading it into their dream space, remodelling and decorating it throughout, including a brand new contemporary kitchen. They wanted to support local businesses but had concerns using a small independent as often these come and go in Chertsey. However, after some research and then reading our client testimonials, Carl and Simon decided to come and see us.
With a very clear brief on aesthetics and the requirement of a German quality kitchen, Alex designed a Nobilia in Alpine and Damask white with black aluminium framed doors and recessed handles.
In order to maintain a very streamlined look, a Bora glass ceramic induction hob that incorporates downdraft extraction was selected – this is a popular choice where hobs are positioned in a peninsula or an island and as well as being extremely effective, avoids having to have a canopy or hood.
It was important to select worksurfaces that were black enough to complement the doors so a 20mm Caesar stone in jet black was selected and the breakfast bar is an imposing piece that adds an impressive feature to the kitchen.
Lighting plays an important part in this kitchen and the Tom Dixon lights look beautiful above the peninsula, with strip LED under cupboard lighting showcasing the glass splashback and Quooker tap.
The peninsula design lends itself well to the kitchen being a sociable space – which was important for Carl and Simon as they entertain a lot and wanted to be able to interact with their guests while using the kitchen space.
With every area of the kitchen enjoying a clutter free style, it was important to incorporate plenty of storage space in the kitchen and design bespoke areas that were both practical and in keeping with the sleek, clean lines.
All the appliances are integrated and finishing touches like the black handles on the AEG ovens complete the look.
We were delighted to realise Carl and Simon’s dream kitchen and thoroughly enjoyed the process of creating this contemporary, social and entertaining kitchen space in their home.
