A Change of Pace on a Luxurious Barge

We remember clearly when our client Amanda came into our Design Studio in Chertsey to arrange a consultation for the design of a new kitchen she had planned – on a barge. This was a first for us and we were excited at the prospect of creating something for a home that was not on Terra Ferma. It was clear from the offset that although the space may have been challenging to incorporate a fully fitted kitchen that was no different from one in a bricks and mortar home, there was not going to be any compromise on quality and style.

Key Elements

We needed to be creative with the use of space – storage is always a priority and particularly so in a more compact space. Positioning the oven on the return of the peninsula meant it not only looks beautiful as you enter the space but it also works practically. Building cabinetry around the Fisher Paykel stainless steel fridge freezer and framing it with a slim bottle display and some decorative glass shelving meant more storage as well as display features were considered, allowing light to travel through every available point.

The German cabinetry is a combination of white gloss and handless grey concrete finish doors with 24mm Corian Pearl Grey worktops, giving the space a quality modern finish. The NOVY UP extraction hob ensures there is no need for a hood and its silent and efficient functionality was a key factor in selecting it for this kitchen.

Our kitchens are designed to clients’ specification, accommodating their taste, budget and space, including on water! We love to see our completed kitchens working well for clients and knowing that they are happy to have trusted us with their project.
