Why Settle for One Kitchen Island When Two will Do…
Our client J came in to see us and wanted an impressive kitchen that offered excellent value as well as high quality. He was very clear on a vision he’d had of two islands, floor to ceiling units with a sliding ladder system and a hidden door to the utility. When a client is very clear on their vision it can facilitate the initial design concepts we present but can equally mean additional revisions to accommodate specific detailing while retaining the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space. This is a process we enjoy and one of the reasons our clients trust us to deliver the right design for their vision.
Key Elements
J has a large sociable space that opens onto a big covered outside sitting area and part of the brief was that the kitchen be connected to those spaces. We created the two islands that made a sink island in the kitchen area and a hob island that extended into the space between the dining area and sitting area with lots of bar stool seating. The doors to the outside space open right out connecting the kitchen islands to that space and extended breakfast bar top becomes a serving top for BBQ parties or an actual bar for friends and family to sit at.
The floor to ceiling white gloss handless towers provide ample storage and the tallest areas can be accessed via a bespoke sliding black ladder that adds an aesthetic accessory as well as a practical one. And no kitchen with a heavy commitment to entertaining family and friends would be complete without a BORA classic with added teppanyaki – giving guests the experience of sitting at the chef’s table at the best restaurant.
We enjoyed working with J and adding our kitchen as well as a functional utility room to his beautifully remodeled home. As well as looking stunning, the kitchen works well and includes all the elements that were needed to ensure this space serves J and his family and friends for many enjoyable years.
