Familiar, But New & Better
Sue and John came to us following a recommendation and needed help with a new kitchen and utility after a devastating water leak caused irreparable damage to their existing spaces.
Key Elements
Sue’s vision was to retain the familiar layout of her existing kitchen while upgrading key features to suit modern living. Her wish list included a Bertazzoni cooker and a cupboard to neatly conceal appliances, all while maintaining the character of her home. The original kitchen featured ochre-painted wall panelling, dark brown stone worktops, and a blue island. Inspired by the warm yellow tones, we knew the clients were open to colour and contrast.
To bring light and balance to the space, we introduced pale, airy cabinetry painted in Farrow and Ball India Yellow and Little Green Company’s Linen Wash paired with Calacatta Gold worktop with a pencil detail throughout and an ogee profile on the island, creating a fresh, contemporary feel. During the design process, the layout was subtly expanded to provide a more generous footprint and incorporated built-in appliances.
We reimagined the transition between the kitchen and dining area by repositioning the tall storage units and designing a custom sideboard that elegantly conceals a super-slim TV, blending seamlessly into the decor. The pantry was fully refurbished with practical open shelving and deep drawers, while in the utility room, we elevated the lower appliances for improved accessibility, a thoughtful detail that made a big difference in the compact space.
The addition of a curved-edge island with seating enhances flow and sociability. The finished kitchen now feels brighter, more spacious, and beautifully cohesive, a perfect blend of functionality, comfort, and timeless style.
Do you like what you see?
The finished spaces are functional, practical and beautiful and Sue has accessorised them perfectly to complement the rest of her and John’s lovely home, adding personal touches from their extensive travels that make the space look considered while feeling warm and personal at the same time.
Sue’s Google review stands as a wonderful reflection of their positive experience with Artizan Interiors.
“The team led by Alex, has amazing expertise and is so creative. They listened diligently to our requests and understood what we were hoping to achieve. Nothing was too much trouble and when I changed my mind (more than once) they came back with revised designs resulting in a kitchen which far exceeds our expectations”.
