Local Property Developer’s Swan Song Project
A small, local developer contacted us for their home build project in Chertsey. They have successfully developed homes in and around Chertsey for a number of years, had been aware of our Design Studio and although had not worked with us previously, wanted to support another local business in Chertsey following a recommendation from their builder, another local business with whom we work regularly.
As a client, they wanted to create a bright and spacious kitchen space with sympathy to the rest of the large open plan living space. The brief was an industrial kitchen with a concrete finish on the cabinetry doors. They did not want a traditional symmetrical kitchen and wanted to take advantage of the ample space so we incorporated different textures to create interest and an imposing island with waterfall detail and that can seat six.
Key Elements
As this was a home earmarked for the rental market, our clients were particularly keen to ensure that the materials used should be extra durable and long-lasting as well as aesthetically sympathetic to the high standard of the build. We were able to achieve this using one of our German manufacturers for the cabinetry, known for its quality and durability. Four ovens, wine fridge, a Bora hob, plenty of storage, large integrated fridge and freezer, Quooker boiling water tap and Organic White Quartz countertops
Balancing the client’s desire for the room not to be symmetrical but visually striking, and working very closely with the builder, we designed the kitchen incorporating low-level units under the kitchen window, acoustic panelling detail, floor-to-ceiling tower units and an off-centre island – all within the required price point and accommodating the footprint of the space.
The developer is delighted with the outcome and although they have said that this property is their swan song after a successful run of property development, they know where they will come to for their next kitchen. And we will, of course, welcome them back for any project, whether that is another kitchen, a bedroom or a living space.
