The Contemporary & Spacious Shaker
This bright and spacious shaker style kitchen started out as an enquiry for a BORA induction hob. The clients were having an extension built to accommodate a new open plan kitchen diner as part of an extensive refurbishment of their home. They knew they did not want an extraction hood and having researched the BORA, came into our design studio in Chertsey as we have several working models on display.
Key Elements
In conversation with our clients about the BORA, they expressed some reservations with their planned kitchen design and layout – while it was lovely, it wasn’t quite hitting the spot and so they asked for our help with the overall design of their kitchen. We were happy to offer up some thoughts and eventually the client decided they would prefer us to completely design and install their new kitchen.
We designed a contemporary shaker style kitchen in the clients preferred blue – Sumburgh Midnight, complemented with pale grey tower units with oak carcases and a striking Cimstone Cortina Quartz worktop and upstands. The BORA sits proudly in the peninsula return of the kitchen and a beautiful butler sink is fed by a Quooker boiling water tap. Bar handles complete the door and drawer furniture.
Originally the client had thought to have an American style fridge freezer, however our designer Rosie suggested a bank of tall cupboards with integrated fridge frezzer and larder framing the ovens, for visual symmetry while still considering the practicalities and usage of the space. The end result is a beautiful shaker kitchen, with lots of storage as well as aesthetically pleasing features.
And most importantly, the client loves the end result as well as enjoying the process of achieving it with us.
